Canterbury Christmas Lights Switch-On 2026

Canterbury BID's "Let it Snow" celebration lights up the city with staggered switch-ons across twelve locations, Friday 14 November 2026.

Friday 14 November 2026, 5pm-8pm · Canterbury city centre, Kent

Canterbury's Christmas lights switch-on opens the city's festive season under this year's "Let it Snow" theme, with six miles of lights across the historic centre. The main evening runs 5pm to 8pm on Friday 14 November, with staggered switch-ons at twelve locations around the city, including the High Street at 6:15pm, the Marlowe Theatre forecourt at 5:30pm, a twilight market and switch-on at Westgate Hall at 6:30pm, a Victorian-themed evening at Burgate at 6pm, and a family hub with Santa visits at the Beaney House of Art and Knowledge.

This kicks off the run-up to Christmas in Canterbury, when the Cathedral precincts and city centre traditionally host a festive market and staggered evening events draw shoppers and visitors into town over several weekends. Worth building into pricing for mid-November through December.
